The French have been creating intricately layered cakes wrapped in a patterned cake called joconde for many, many years.
After flipping the cake out of the pan, peeling the parchment off of the bottom, and whistling in admiration at your mad piping skills, flip it back around so that the bottom of the cake is resting on top of a cotton.
A pattern roll cake is made by piping a pattern onto the parchment paper before baking the sponge cake and then rolling it.
For the polka dot deco roll , I used four different colors- green, red, pink and a paler pink.

Bahan-bahan Patterned Roll Cake (love pattern)
- Pastikan ada 45 gr bahan margarin.
- Persiapkan 40 ml bahan minyak.
- Pastikan ada 50 gr bahan DCC.
- Persiapkan 62 gr bahan terigu.
- Siapkan 1 sdm bahan coklat bubuk (good quality).
- Persiapkan 3 sdt bahan susu bubuk.
- Persiapkan 1/4 sdt bahan soda kue (blh skip).
- Persiapkan 3 btr bahan telur.
- Pastikan ada 70 gr bahan gula pasir.
- Siapkan bahan Vanili bubuk.
- Kudu ada 1 sdm bahan emufliser (SP).
- Kudu ada bahan Pewarna merah.
- Kudu ada bahan Tambahan:.
- Persiapkan bahan Buttercream.
- Pastikan ada bahan Selai strawberry.

I recently watched Martha Stewart making Chocolate Swiss Roll cake on TV and mentally bookmarked it. I used Martha's cake recipe and the pattern recipe and technique from here.
Patterned Roll Cake (love pattern) Tahapan Bikinnya
- Lelehkan margarin, minyak dan dcc. Ayak terigu, susu dan soda kue. Campur telur, gula, vanili, emufliser kocok hingga kental berjejak, tambahkan campuran terigu, aduk rata. Ambil 2 sdm, sisihkan. Lanjutkan tambah coklat bubuk kdalam adonan, aduk rata, kemudian tambah campuran coklat leleh, aduk hingga rata (jangan ada yg mengendap).
- Ambil 2 sdm adonan putih yg sdh dpisahkan tadi, tambahkan pewarna merah campur rata. Masukkan kdalam pipping bag, gunting ujungnya buat motif diatas loyang (26*20) yg sdh dialas kertas roti. Kukus dlm kukusan yg sdh dpanaskan tlebih dahulu slama +-5 mnt. Angkat.
- Tuang adonan coklat dlm loyang yg sudah ada adonan motif kukusnya. Ratakan, kukus hingga matang +-15 menit..
- Setelah matang, angkat, balik cake, lepaskan kertas rotinya..
- Balik kembali, setelah agak dingin olesi bagain yg tidak bermotif dengan buttercream dan selai.
- Gulung sambil ditekan2 agar rapat gulungannya (sy gulung ttp pakai kertas roti bekas kukusan).
- Potong2. Sajikan.
